Can't Stop the Movies

Spike Lee

Spike Lee (1957-present) sprang from a background of music and film to capture the independent scene with She's Gotta Have It in 1986.  Once in the spotlight he quickly began a dialogue on the issues plaguing America with School Daze, Do the Right Thing, and Jungle Fever.  Along the way Spike directed numerous documentaries, including the Academy Award-nominated 4 Little Girls and When the Levees Broke, as well as a number of one-man shows with frequent collaborators.  Andrew and Kyle look beyond the movies to study the behind-the-scenes actions and continued relevance of Spike's work.
